  • Responsibilities

    Job Title: Lawn Technician

    Position Overview The Lawn Technician is a hands-on specialized role within the Grounds Management division focused on Integrated Pest Management (IPM). This position involves planning, administrative duties, and regulatory compliance regarding turf and plant health. The Lawn Technician operates with minimal supervision to identify pests, apply treatments, and ensure the health and safety of client landscapes while reporting to the Production Manager.


    Key Responsibilities

    Integrated Pest Management (IPM) & Horticulture

    • Execution: Perform current IPM practices and procedures as stated in the company program, including the safe mixing and application of products.

    • Diagnostics: Observe and identify major turf and ornamental pests; formulate safe and effective remedies.

    • Storage & Compliance: Maintain the Chemical Storage area in a clean and organized manner; keep all Pesticide Application Records and site Pest History Reports current.

    • Safety: Maintain proper environmental and public safety practices at all times; read and understand standard Pesticide Labeling.

    Operations & Production

    • Support: Assist with seasonal tasks such as annual flower installation and enhancements.

    • Snow Removal: Participate in snow removal operations during winter months.

    • Fleet Operation: Safely drive company-owned trucks (with or without trailers) and transport equipment.

    • Flexibility: Work various shifts (including early mornings or evenings) to perform duties when public access or safety is a concern.

    Communication & Leadership

    • Coordination: Communicate daily with Assistant Managers and the Branch Manager regarding concerns or pest problems.

    • Customer Service: Maintain professional communication with clients and the general public to address questions or concerns.

    • Training: Supervise and train maintenance crews on aspects of landscape maintenance services related to plant health.

    • Reporting: Prepare timesheets and daily paperwork as required.

    Licensing & Certifications

    • Driver’s License: Valid NC Driver’s license with a good driving record.

    • Pesticide License: Ability to obtain the NC Pesticide Applicator’s License (Ground Applicator, Sub Class L Turf and Ornamental) within 90 days of employment.

    • Background: Ability to pass a background check.

    • Autonomy: Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

    • Professionalism: Must adhere to the uniform policy and present a clean, polite demeanor.

    • Knowledge: Ability to read and understand chemical labels and safety procedures.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to bend and stoop on a continual basis.

    • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

    • Comfort working around environmental risks such as bees, poison ivy, pollen, and thorns.

    Required Experience

    Must have 1 + years experience in Horticultural Pest Management/IPM or the equivalent.
