    POSITION STATUS:       Exempt             

    REPORTS TO:                  Dean of Academic Affairs & Workforce Partnerships 

    SUPERVISES:                   Apprentice Student Navigator, Instructors for all health science programs

     

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Director of Health Science Program Development works under the leadership of the Dean of Academic Affairs and Workforce Partnerships to provide direction and leadership in the support, development, and growth of health sciences programs. The Director serves as the lead point of contact for all health sciences programs, supervises adjunct instructors, and works with department chairs, faculty, and staff across the college to support the pursuit of strategic initiatives and to coordinate effective and efficient operations with the Health Sciences Department. The Director maintains a commitment to high-quality instruction and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in initiatives and activities. Importantly, the Director demonstrates inclusiveness and service to others, shares a commitment to the value of diversity, inclusion, and equity among students and staff, and works with colleagues to create an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all can succeed.

     

    The Director’s work requires regular participation in planning and development activities and independent determination of methods to meet programmatic goals. With direction from the Dean of Academic Affairs and Workforce Partnerships, the Director implements curriculum development and directs operations of new health science programs including implementation and monitoring. The Director works within a start-up environment, assisting the Dean of Academic Affairs and Workforce Partnerships in building the operational infrastructure to support the development of new institutional programs, especially related to the area of health sciences.

     

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Program Development:

    • Oversee new curricular strategic initiatives to facilitate organizational growth in health science programs, as identified by the Dean of Academic Affairs and Workforce Partnerships
    • Manage proposals and offerings with internal and external stakeholders to move strategic initiatives forward to completion
    • Responsible for assessing needs for revising current offerings or adding educational offerings, developing the content and format of the offerings, promoting community participation, directing the operational aspects of program offerings, making arrangements for instructors and sites, and conducting program reviews and evaluation
    • Build and foster industry alliances and partnerships
    • Complete required processes for program approvals and assure compliance with existing policies
    • Maintain partnership with academic partners/stakeholders on campus and the broader community

     

    Program and Curriculum Oversight:

    • Attends meetings as needed to develop a comprehensive and pedagogically sound and culturally-responsive learner-centered program, curriculum documentation, and assessment plan that meet defined program learning objectives
    • Provide direct oversight of curriculum development, budget operations, instructor support, and issue resolution for health science programs
    • Manage and design curriculum including:
      • Course offerings and scheduling
      • Course competencies
      • Modality reviews
      • Instructional materials

     

    Assessment of Student Learning:

    • Develop and implement department assessment that ensures student learning, evaluates program outcomes and development, and implements collaborative processes for data collection and analysis
    • Use department/program reviews to improve department operations and increase student success
    • Employ effective retention, graduation, and completion strategies for the department
    • Implement instructional strategies to increase success rates and reduce equity gaps
    • Coach instructors and faculty members on use of assessment findings to modify teaching and learning practices

     

    Instructional Support:

    • Use teaching observations and student evaluations to coach faculty members and instructors
    • Conduct departmental orientation for new faculty and adjunct-instructors
    • Support implementation of new/improved teaching practices

     

     

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college/university
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching/instruction or program coordination
    • Demonstrated use of appreciable ingenuity and innovation to conceive of new approaches and solutions to address complex problems and issues.
    • Evidence of ability to develop successful partnerships
    • Experience maintaining a positive climate of collaboration and inclusion
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
    • Commitment to diversity, inclusive excellence, and equity; ability to work with a diverse college community
    • A student-centered focus, experience with program development, curriculum development, and the ability to view students from an asset-mindset.
    • Commitment to continuous quality improvement, ongoing professional development, and a resilience for a dynamic changing work environment

     

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Community college or technical college experience
    • Healthcare industry experience
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing new curriculum
    • Ability to embrace change in dynamic higher education setting
    • Progressive leadership responsibility

     

    SALARY RANGE:  Anticipated annual salary of mid 60’s to mid 70’s. The specific salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included.

  • Qualifications

    Master's Degree in discipline or 18 credits in the specific discipline. Prefer teaching experience at the college level. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities and cultures. Experience with instructional technology preferred.

    Responsible for instruction and facilitating student learning; committed to student recruitment, retention and success; assessment of learning, development of curriculum and use of instructional delivery modes utilizing both traditional and non-traditional methodology.

    1. Teach assigned course which may include day, night, and online courses, as well as at the main campus and extension centers. Classes are to meet on time for the full allotted time.
    2. Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximize documented student learning.
    3. Prepare, submit and maintain reports related to student learning.
    4. Grading assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting or beating all institutional deadlines for completion.
    5. Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled and posted times (i.e., office hours) or by appointment.
    6. Encourage student opinion survey completion for each class and then reviewed after summary information available to assist with increasing student success.
    7. Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training or hour.
    8. Perform other duties as assigned.
