    Rutkowski Law Firm is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Probate Attorney to lead and expand our growing probate department. This is a unique leadership opportunity for a driven attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, client-centered environment and is passionate about building systems, developing people, and delivering an exceptional legal experience. In this role, you will take ownership of our probate and trust administration cases from start to finish—handling strategy, communication, filings, and courtroom appearances—while also shaping the future of the department. You’ll work directly with our leadership team to build out processes, grow a team, and scale the department with operational excellence. Responsibilities: • Lead the Probate & Trust Administration Department: Take full ownership of department operations, including caseload management, process development, and team oversight. • Handle Probate and Trust Administration Matters: Manage cases from initial intake to final resolution, including court filings, hearings, client communications, and post-resolution steps. • Deliver a Client-Centered Experience: Ensure clients feel supported, informed, and guided throughout the process, delivering on our promise of the “Disney Experience.” • Build and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Help recruit, train, and develop future team members as the department grows. • Develop and Optimize Systems: Create and refine processes and workflows to ensure efficiency, consistency, and exceptional service delivery. • Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to align departmental growth with firm-wide strategic goals. • Maintain Compliance and Professional Excellence: Stay current on Michigan probate and estate law, ensuring all work is completed with legal and ethical excellence. • Monitor Key Metrics: Track and report on departmental KPIs such as case cycle time, client satisfaction, and team productivity. Qualifications: • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Michigan (in good standing). • 3+ years of experience in probate and trust administration, including court appearances, filings, and managing client matters. • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently with strong attention to detail, deadlines, and client communication. • Proven leadership ability or desire to grow into a leadership role— experience managing or mentoring others is a plus. • Strong understanding of Michigan probate procedures, estate administration, and relevant statutes. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-first mindset. • Growth mindset with a willingness to embrace innovation, technology, and process improvement. • Highly organized with the ability to develop and follow systems while also identifying opportunities for improvement.
