On a daily basis, you can expect to attend court appearances, conduct depositions, negotiate settlements, and counsel clients through every stage of the legal process. You will also have the ability to mentor newer associates, helping to develop their litigation skills and professional judgment. Responsibilities: NOTE: The following are duties performed by employees in this classification. However, this is not a full list for this classification. Further, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. • Anticipate, prepare for, and attend trials, mediation, depositions, and arbitration on behalf of clients. • Assists in the daily operation of the office, including training and mentoring of attorneys. • Maintain knowledge of all local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws. • Identifies, researches, and analyzes legal issues in collaboration with paralegals; reviews legal authority cited by litigants; conducts self-directed research as may be needed to further clarify issues and arrive at sound conclusions. • Oversee and or prepare appropriate documents, such as motions, pleadings, notices, and discovery requests/responses are calendared and completed timely. • Prepares a variety of reports and correspondence. • Maintains proficiency through continuing education in specific areas of procedural and substantive law. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Education: Completion of a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university. • Experience: A total of one to three years of experience in any combination of the following: civil litigation, probate, estate planning, and tax litigation. Experience in litigation is highly desirable. • LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Current active membership and good standing with the State Bar of California. Compensation: $120,000 - $160,000
