Job Description
Technician needed to life-cycle networking equipment at multiple sites across a large geographic area. Sites can include, but not limited to data centers, service centers, substation facilities, power houses.
**THIS POSITION REQUIRES TRAVEL THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA, SPECIFICALLY THE CENTRAL VALLEY AND BAY AREA REGIONS.
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide high quality technology solutions in support of our customers, which can include both multi-departmental unified and non-unified organizations. Technicians will train under general directions but are expected to be self-sustaining and self-motivated. They will assist to install, test, and maintain network infrastructure systems including, but not limited to: intercommunication systems, telephone VoIP systems, PBX, voice and data-switching systems, switches, routers, firewalls, RTUs, SCADA control systems, fiber optics, remote signal and remotely controlled equipment, power systems including UPS and DC power.
Telecommunication Electrician will complete work and troubleshoot from basic electronic schematics, both with and without assistance, and maintain communication circuit prints. This position is a field service position and individuals must be able to travel throughout our service territory with overnight stays as required. Techs are paid hourly for travel and installation time. Travel expenses are reimbursed. Competitive wages and benefits are offered.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Traveling throughout California, primarily the Central Valley, Sacramento and Bay Area regions in connection with client related assignments.
Reliable transportation to commute from site to site.

Strong attention to detail.
Ability to do basic construction (Example: drill and mount a switch in racks or under a conference room desk.)
Ability to read communication wiring diagrams, rack elevation drawings, and construction packages.
Understand and adhere to client labeling standards.
General housekeeping: leave a site cleaner than you found it and use clean/proper cable securing practices.
Experience installing fiber-optic and copper network infrastructure and creating new power connections.
Ability to install power distribution panels, breakers, outlets, switches, etc. while following NEC Code.
Familiarity with Lock-Out-Tag-Out program.
Ability to learn and understand how to install, troubleshoot (to the device level), and repair or replace various equipment to maintain the integrity of the bulk electric system and other different client-owned systems.
Work with client’s Control Center to ensure that outages are minimized, and client is informed throughout the whole clearance process.
Report problems to internal chain of command and possibly local client to escalate issues as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Must possess a valid minimum Class C California Driver's License.
EXCEPTIONALLY reliable transportation, that will be able to carry tools and equipment to sites. ¾ ton trucks are not preferred.
Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions on both paved and unpaved roads during both day and nighttime.
Ability to work in all types of weather extremes.
Ability and willingness to work in and around high voltage equipment, not limited to switchyards and protective relay equipment.
Knowledge of safe work practices around high voltage equipment and construction/industrial environments.
Able and willing to perform physical activities as mentioned in the job posting (with accommodation, if required).
Must be able to repetitively lift equipment up to 75 pounds.
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) i.e. boots, Arc Rated clothing.
Must be comfortable working at heights and around water.
Possibility of encountering nature in the field such as poison oak, snakes, spiders, insects, etc.
Computer literacy and demonstrated work experience/knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent customer service/people skills are required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
State certified C-10
Associate degree or technical certification in IT, Computer Science or Electronics
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Engineering
Leadership experience
Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to foster teamwork and work in a collaborative environment
Military experience
SCADA & substation experience
Telecommunications equipment installation experience
Technical training background
Experience with both AC and DC powered installations
Personal tools are preferred, but not required. Specialty tools will be provided.
Ability to handle and use large machinery
SALARY: $105,000-$115,000 annually
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Temporary
