Lead Advisor – AI Risk
Role Summary
Drive applied AI initiatives that strengthen security and resilience. Lead and execute programs that improve the security and resilience of AI systems. Focus on making generative AI safer for humans by ensuring appropriate behavior across risks from child safety to catastrophic terrorism to user acceptance. No AI/ML programming required; emphasize project management, client management, and orchestration of a diverse expert network to address technical AI risk and safety questions.
About Our Client
Our Client is a strategic AI consultancy focused on responsible and impactful AI adoption across national security, education, and global operations. They partner with government agencies, leading AI labs, Fortune 500 firms, and nonprofits to deliver secure AI models, measurable mission impact, and transformative workforce training.
Key Responsibilities
- Design world-class evaluations for AI labs and deployers (benchmarks, red-teams, uplift studies).
- Assess high-risk misuse scenarios (e.g., chemical/biological threats) with human-centered methods.
- Pair diverse experts (e.g., sci-fi authors, biology professors) to red-team pre-release models.
- Develop responsible AI frameworks, scaling policies, and safety cases to map and mitigate risks.
- Create & deliver responsible AI trainings and toolkits for leaders and workforces.
- Workshop AI risk scenarios in crisis sectors (natural disasters, democracy protection, national security).
- Identify vulnerabilities where AI may compromise missions across labs, agencies, startups, and nonprofits.
- Design scalable, cost-effective mitigations for AI-related risks.
Required Qualifications
- 4–8 years professional experience
- Private sector or consulting experience required,
- Advanced degree in security studies, global affairs, or related field.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven experience in AI safety, risk assessment, or national security contexts.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management skills to lead teams and coordinate a 400+ expert network.
- Familiarity with responsible AI frameworks and safety policies.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-visibility projects.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for public trust clearance.

- Experience collaborating with top AI labs or federal agencies.
- Background in national security or risk analysis/assessment.
- Exposure to AI-enabled workflows and societal resilience research.
