Lead Caregiver
Position Summary
The Lead Caregiver plays a key leadership role within our Companion Care team. This position provides hands-on care to residents while also supporting, mentoring, and motivating caregiving team members. The Lead Caregiver works closely with the Companion Care Assistant Manager and Companion Care Manager to ensure exceptional resident care, strong team performance, and compliance with all policies and care plans.

Key Responsibilities
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, incontinence care, vital signs, and weights
Promote resident dignity, independence, and quality of life
Serve as a positive role model by setting a “can-do” tone each shift
Support, motivate, and inspire caregiving team members
Train and mentor new team members using the onboarding program
Address caregiving questions and concerns from team members
Review caregiving duties to ensure quality and compliance
Monitor and document resident health, behavior, and care needs
Provide medication reminders and complete required documentation
Participate in on-call responsibilities and manage on-call phone as scheduled
Communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, and leadership
Provide tours to prospective residents and families when leadership is unavailable
Escort residents to medical appointments as needed
Ensure resident safety and follow all emergency, evacuation, and care protocols
Maintain confidentiality of all resident and client information
Attend meetings, in-services, and required training
Assist leadership with additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of one year of prior caregiving experience
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to problem-solve and work independently
Friendly, courteous, and professional communication style
Basic computer skills and ability to navigate simple programs
Ability to read regulations and resident records
Legible handwriting
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 200 pounds
Ability to walk, stand, sit, reach, and use hands and fingers regularly
Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively
Maintain a professional appearance (uniform or professional attire, name tag, minimal jewelry)
