Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and energetic Lead Daycare Teacher to join our team! You will be responsible for encouraging children’s intellectual, psychological, and physical growth. QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a minimum of an AA degree in Early Childhood Education, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. OR must be working towards a degree.
Must have experience in a licensed Early Childhood facility.
Must have CPR and First Aid training or obtain them within the first 3 months of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be on time for work daily. Check in and out to ensure that an accurate record of time worked is kept daily.
Maintain an accurate daily attendance of children in your care.
Must have a complete knowledge of the NC Rules and Regulations. Lead Teachers must ensure that all staff, especially those working in their room are carrying them out.
Must have knowledge of the ITERS/ECERS “Environmental Rating Scale” or obtain training within the first 6 months of employment. Each classroom must uphold the standards of this rating scale.
Create a weekly written lesson plan that stimulates the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children in your care.
The activity plan must always be current and accessible for easy reference by parents and caregivers
All teachers in your classroom shall provide developmentally appropriate interaction. Teachers are to be instructed and encouraged on what is or is not developmentally appropriate as needed.
Lead teachers must ensure that their classroom is fully stocked at the beginning and end of each day.
Children must have the opportunity to go outside for at least an hour daily when weather conditions permit.
Responsible for safely evacuating children in an emergency situation (e.g. fire drill, bomb threat, etc).
Communicate effectively with parents.
Communicate effectively with other staff. Any problem and concerns need to be addressed with the director.
As lead teacher, you are responsible for supervising Assistants and Floaters, and must be able to incorporate their time and talents into your classroom appropriately.
Requests for materials, equipment, or supplies needed for your classroom must be submitted in writing to the director with at least one-week notice. Make sure that all materials, equipment, and supplies are in good condition.
The Board requires all staff members to assist with fundraising whenever possible to ensure that the school remains financially viable.
Provide basic care and caregiving activities
Evaluate children to ensure they are reaching developmental milestones
Communicate with parents and update them on their children’s activities
