Position Summary
An experienced Electrical Engineering Lead is sought to support a growing energy engineering practice focused on substation design, utility interconnection, solar photovoltaic systems, and battery energy storage systems. This role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams—including civil, structural, environmental, planning, and regulatory professionals—to support the design, permitting, and delivery of energy infrastructure projects. The position combines technical leadership, project and client management, and business development responsibilities while mentoring early-career engineers and supporting system studies and technical documentation.
Job Function
- Represent the engineering team in meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to define project needs and resolve design considerations
- Manage client relationships and support business development initiatives
- Oversee development of project scopes and technical deliverables including electrical layouts, one-line diagrams, construction documents, and equipment specifications
- Develop specifications, gather technical data, and prepare utility interconnection applications
- Coordinate project activities between clients, utilities, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Lead integration of energy storage systems with solar photovoltaic projects
- Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations
- Provide expert witness services related to electrical engineering matters when required
- Perform electrical system impact studies
- Mentor and provide training to early-career engineering staff
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- 8–11 years of electrical engineering design experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing commercial or utility-scale solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems, or equivalent projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering
Qualifications
- Strong project and client management capabilities
- Demonstrated business development experience and strong market connectivity
- Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to electrical engineering
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong report writing and presentation abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams
- Self-motivated with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in the northeastern United States preferred
