We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Electrical Technician to oversee the daily operations of Panel Shop, which supports the assembly, wiring, and testing of Direct Contact Water Heating Systems. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone with strong electrical and mechanical assembly experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a passion for mentoring others.
As the Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for coordinating a team of three technicians, ensuring high-quality work is completed on schedule, and collaborating with departments like Engineering and Testing to maintain smooth workflow and customer satisfaction. You will also handle key administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, inventory control, and performance coaching.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support a team of panel shop technicians in daily tasks and assignments
Assemble and wire low-voltage electrical control panels and systems from schematics and mechanical drawings
Install components such as sensors, actuators, motors, and blowers
Perform system-level wiring and integration to support full system testing
Troubleshoot and test control panels to ensure functionality and safety
Coordinate with Engineering and Testing teams during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Complete testing documentation and verify performance criteria
Ensure adherence to safety standards and company procedures
Monitor inventory and manage scheduling and workflow in the panel shop
Train new technicians and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Trade or Technical School certificate preferred
3+ years of relevant experience in electrical panel assembly and mechanical systems
Strong understanding of electrical schematics and control systems
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
Competent with basic computer applications
Strong troubleshooting and testing skills
Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Experience leading or mentoring others is highly preferred
Must be punctual, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
Preferred Skills:
Experience with combustion systems or industrial water heating technology
Familiarity with Factory Acceptance Testing protocols
Inventory and workflow management in a shop environment
