    Rutkowski Law Firm is seeking a Lead Estate Planning & Elder Law Attorney to join our dynamic, client-first team. This is a client-facing leadership role ideal for an experienced attorney who thrives on solving complex problems with empathy and creativity. You'll step into a well-established firm with proven systems, full support staff, and a founder who is transitioning out of daily practice but available to mentor and guide. This role offers the unique opportunity to take ownership of a practice area, work directly with families across Michigan, and help lead the next chapter of our firm’s growth. Responsibilities: Key ResponsibilitiesLead client consultations to design and present estate plans and Medicaid strategies that align with clients’ personal and financial goals • Provide legal counsel on estate planning, asset protection, long-term care planning, and eligibility for Medicaid and other government benefits • Draft and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and Medicaid-related planning instruments • Oversee plan implementation , collaborating with paralegals and funding coordinators to ensure all legal and administrative steps are completed • Build strong client relationships by delivering empathetic, solutions-focused service from consultation to completion • Contribute to internal process improvement — bringing ideas and feedback to enhance client experience, legal systems, and team workflows • Stay current on Michigan law and emerging strategies in estate planning, elder law, and public benefits • Mentor and support team members , including legal assistants and junior staff, as needed • Participate in firm-wide meetings, training, and leadership discussions to help drive innovation and growth Qualifications: Required:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school • Licensed to practice law in Michigan and in good standing with the State Bar • 3+ years of experience in estate planning, elder law, or related legal practice • Proven ability to confidently lead client meetings and explain complex legal concepts with clarity and compassion • Strong working knowledge of estate planning tools (revocable/irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, etc.) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • A solutions-focused mindset with a high level of emotional intelligence • Ability to work in person in Rochester and Bloomfield Hills offices , as needed for client meetings • Commitment to upholding our core values, including empathy, teamwork, growth, and a “don’t act like an attorney” approach to client care Preferred: • Experience with Medicaid planning and public benefits eligibility in Michigan • Familiarity with Lawmatics , WealthCounsel , or other legal tech platforms • Prior experience leading a legal team or mentoring junior staff • Experience working in a systems-driven law firm or using process-based legal workflows • Interest in firm leadership or practice ownership over time Compensation: $100,000 - $170,000 yearly
