Dryer Vent Superheroes is looking for an experienced, skilled Lead Field Technician to take over day-to-day field operations for our growing residential and commercial dryer vent services business in Central Connecticut.
This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for someone with a proven hands-on trades background — HVAC, carpentry, finish work, handyman, or similar — who can walk into any job situation and figure it out. We'll train you on our specific tools, systems, processes, and methods. What we will consider for an interview is craftsmanship, problem-solving instinct, and the ability to read a space and adapt. That has to come with you.
You will step into an active commercial project on day one — a large multi-building contract already underway — and within 60 to 90 days, you'll take over full field operations in a fully equipped company vehicle. This is a path to being the face of the operation in the field.
COMPENSATION — HOW IT WORKS
The $45–$80/hour range reflects your total blended compensation, not a guessing game. Here's exactly what makes it up:
Commission per job completed — Your schedule is built and managed for you during training. As you grow into the lead role, you'll take on a hand in scheduling and routing as part of your field leadership responsibilities — giving you more control over your day and your earning potential.
Commission on work identified on-site — When you inspect a system and find that a reroute is needed, a component is out of code, or efficiency improvements are warranted, you walk the customer through what you found and why it matters. When they move forward, you earn on that work. You're not selling — you're doing your job thoroughly.
Performance bonus — Structured bonus tied to quality, volume, and consistency (monthly or quarterly — finalized during onboarding)
Customer tips — Paid directly to you, daily or weekly
Cell phone reimbursement — Monthly stipend
The high end of this range belongs to technicians who work efficiently, take pride in clean work, and take the time to walk customers through what they actually found. The schedule, the jobs, and the customers are provided. Your earnings reflect your craft and your thoroughness.

Fully equipped company vehicle provided
All tools and equipment provided
Uniforms provided
Paid training — tools, processes, systems, code, and products
W-2 employee (not 1099)
Tips paid daily or weekly
Performance bonus opportunities
Flexible scheduling
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Execute residential and commercial dryer vent cleaning, installation, repair, and maintenance jobs across Central Connecticut
Lead an active large-scale commercial project (multi-building, $100K+ contract) during your first 60–90 days on the job
Inspect systems, identify issues, and recommend additional work or upgrades to clients — you are the expert in the room
Reroute and bring vent systems up to code when needed (we provide full training on code requirements)
Deliver outstanding customer service — in most cases, you are the face of this company
Maintain accurate job records using tablet or phone-based field software — no paperwork
Lead responsibilities — A significant portion of this work is two-person, and you'll be the lead on those jobs. You'll direct and work alongside rotating team members, maintain quality and pace regardless of who you're paired with, handle field reporting and scheduling coordination, and help onboard new technicians as we grow. You set the standard on every job site.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
This role is a strong fit if you:
Have 3+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC, carpentry, finish work, general contracting, handyman services, or a closely related trade — and can demonstrate it
Are comfortable working independently all day without supervision — you don't need someone standing over you
Take real pride in the quality of your work — you notice the details others skip
Can hold a professional, confident conversation with a homeowner or property manager and earn their trust
Are physically capable of working in confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and on rooftops — and able to lift and maneuver equipment as needed
Hold a valid Connecticut driver's license with a clean record
Are comfortable with app-based field management software — we train you on our specific system, but you should come with some experience using a scheduling or job management tool in a prior role
Want your pay tied to your performance, not a flat hourly rate that rewards mediocrity
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated trades background required — HVAC, carpentry, finish work, or handyman with verifiable work history or references
Valid CT driver's license, clean record — required, you will operate a company vehicle daily
Formal education matters less than what you've built, fixed, and figured out — trade school certification welcomed; exceptional hands-on experience speaks just as loud
Dryer vent experience is a plus but not required — we provide complete paid training on our tools, systems, and methods
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand and power tools
A NOTE ON TRAINING
We will fully train you on everything specific to this job — our equipment, our cleaning and installation methods, our customer approach, and our software. What makes someone successful here is the foundation they bring: real trades ability, physical problem-solving, attention to detail, and the kind of people skills that make a homeowner feel good about the money they just spent. If you have that foundation, we'll build the rest on top of it together.
