We are seeking a talented Lead Guitarist to join our musical department at Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in providing high-quality, inspiring musical accompaniment for Lewis Chapel choirs and worship services. This position requires that the individual possess technical proficiency, musical versatility across various genres, and a deep commitment to enhancing the Christian worship experience here at Lewis Chapel through instrumental music. The Lead Guitarist will work closely in selecting, arranging, and performing during our 8:30 and 11:00 am services, and other special services or scheduled events.
Lead and perform electric and/or acoustic guitar parts with our musicians for all scheduled worship services, rehearsals, live concerts, and visits to surrounding area churches in support of the Senior Pastor or other special events.
Work with the Choir Director to arrange and adapt guitar parts for existing choir pieces and hymns, ensuring appropriate style and complexity.
Provide instrumental solos and intros/outros as required to enhance the musical offering.
Maintain a high level of musical and technical proficiency on the guitar.
Attend and actively participate in all choirs and worship teams' rehearsals, typically held on Thursdays.
Collaborate effectively with the Minister of Music Director, organist, keyboardist, rhythm section, and vocalists.
Be prepared for services and rehearsals by learning music in advance and practicing all assigned parts.
Communicate scheduling conflicts or musical needs in a timely manner to the Minister of Music.
Manage and maintain church musical equipment (guitars, amplifiers, pedals, cables, etc.).
Assist in setting up and tearing down the stage area and sound equipment before and after services and rehearsals.
Work with the Media team to ensure optimal sound quality for the guitar in the house mix.
