About the Role
The Lead Instructor & Assistant Youth Prosperity Coordinator supports the Youth Prosperity Program and the Academy by leading academic instruction and assisting with program implementation. This is a part-time role for 20 to 25 hours per week. This role focuses on helping students improve academic performance, strengthen ACT readiness, and build the skills necessary for college, vocational training, and employment. The Lead Instructor works closely with the Youth Prosperity Coordinator to ensure students receive both strong academic preparation and meaningful mentorship.
The position combines classroom leadership, student mentorship, and program support.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Instruction & Student Development
Lead classroom instruction for Academy participants
Facilitate ACT preparation sessions and academic skill development
Support students in strengthening reading, writing, math, and critical thinking skills
Provide individualized academic support and encouragement to help students succeed
Monitor student progress and help students set academic and career goals
Curriculum Implementation
Implement the Academy curriculum developed by the Youth Prosperity Coordinator
Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials
Support structured academic programming designed to improve ACT performance
Track student academic progress and assessment results
Academic & Program Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight for the Academy academic program
Supervise and support the Lead Instructor and teaching staff
Ensure ACT preparation curriculum and instruction are effectively implemented
Oversee testing schedules, program data collection, and student progress tracking
Ensure classrooms, materials, and learning environments meet student needs
Coordinate with the Center of Workforce Development to support employment education and readiness
Student Mentorship & Engagement
Build supportive, mentoring relationships with youth participants
Encourage student confidence, motivation, and personal growth
Support students in developing life skills, responsibility, and leadership
Assist with social-emotional development activities and group discussions
Program Support & Experiential Learning
Assist with coordination of program sessions and activities
Help supervise field trips, guest speakers, and experiential learning opportunities
Support recruitment events and program orientations
Assist with preparation for summer internships and career exploration experiences
Data & Documentation
Track student attendance and academic progress
Maintain instructional records and program documentation
Assist the Youth Prosperity Coordinator with program data collection and reporting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Mathematics, Youth Development, Social Sciences, or related field preferred
Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring middle or high school students
Experience with ACT preparation or standardized test support preferred
Experience working with youth in under-resourced communities strongly preferred
Ability to travel locally when needed
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data systems
Passion for youth development and education
Ability to build trusting relationships with young people
