We are partnering with an innovative renewable energy company that is harnessing the power of the open ocean—Earth’s largest and most power-dense renewable resource—to deliver abundant, affordable clean energy. They are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in the design, development, and deployment of the turbogenerator within their core technology. This is a hands-on position where you’ll guide the technical vision while also prototyping, testing, and problem-solving alongside a world-class team.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the design, development, and integration of the turbogenerator system.
• Define and own performance requirements and design goals.
• Design and analyze key components: shafts, housings, bearings, dynamic seals, turbine blades, and stators.
• Select advanced materials and coatings for long-term marine deployment.
• Collaborate across electromagnetics, controls, fluid dynamics, and marine operations teams.
• Drive manufacturability, offshore assembly, and serviceability in design.
• Lead and participate in design reviews with internal teams and external vendors.
• Oversee documentation, drawings, and tolerance analysis.
• Mentor technicians and guide prototyping, fabrication, and testing.
• Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and iterate designs.
• Utilize high-end CAD (NX), PDM (Teamcenter), and FEA tools.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related.
• Extensive experience with rotating machinery (pumps, turbines, compressors, turbochargers, etc.).
• 5+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and FEA.
• Hands-on experience assembling tight-tolerance rotating equipment.
• Proven ability to manage projects from concept through test and deployment.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications (a plus, not required):

• Advanced degree or additional 5 years of experience.
• Prior leadership of engineering teams.
• Background in marine/offshore machinery design.
• Experience with subsea bearings, hydrodynamic/hydrostatic bearings, or piping systems.
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping and instrumentation/controls.
• NX/Teamcenter, NASTRAN, FEMAP, or similar analysis software.

• Programming/data analysis with Python or Julia.
