Lead Medical Assistant – Provider Support & Allergy/Injection Clinic

Position Overview
The Lead Medical Assistant plays a key leadership and clinical support role within the Allergy and Injection Clinic. This position is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, supporting providers, and coordinating activities related to allergy injections, oral/sublingual immunotherapy, biologic treatments, and vaccine preparation. The Lead MA also provides oversight and training to the medical assistant team, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and consistency across all clinical workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Provider Support
Provide direct clinical support to physicians and advanced practice providers during patient visits and procedures.
Administer allergy injections, perform testing, and prepare biologic and immunotherapy treatments per protocol.
Manage vaccine and allergy serum creation processes in accordance with safety and quality standards.
Ensure appropriate documentation and coordination of patient care in the EHR.
Leadership & Oversight
Oversee daily staffing and workload distribution for the clinical team.
Train and mentor new and existing medical assistants on clinical workflows, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Monitor compliance with OSHA and HIPAA.
Coordinate with the practice manager, other departments leads and providers to address operational or performance issues.
Inventory & Administrative Support
Maintain inventory of vaccines, biologics, and allergy extract supplies; manage ordering and stock rotation.
Ensure appropriate labeling, storage, and documentation for all medications and extracts.
Oversee prior authorization workflows for biologics and specialty medications.
Assist with tracking and reporting related to biologic utilization, inventory, and compliance audits.
Qualifications
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred.
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in allergy/immunology or related specialty.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in electronic health records (eClinicalWorks experience a plus).
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
