Animal House Naturals Pet Supply Store™ Family Owned & Operated • Proudly Serving St. Pete for 45 Years
We specialize in premium, natural, and holistic pet nutrition and supplies. We carefully curate the finest brands featuring clean ingredients, ethical sourcing, and proven health benefits. Just as people thrive on whole, nourishing foods, we believe high-quality pet food is the foundation of vibrant health, vitality, and longevity for dogs, cats, and all companions. If this philosophy resonates with you, we’d love to meet you.
One Position Available Starts part-time (25–35 hours/week with mixed shifts) with strong opportunity to grow quickly into full-time and advance into management.
What We’re Looking For
1–2+ years of hands-on experience in independent or upscale pet retail (premium/natural-focused stores strongly preferred — big-box or chain experience does not align with our needs)
Deep knowledge of the premium and natural pet food brands we carry, including Open Farm, Farmina, Stella & Chewy’s, OC Raw, Primal, SmallBatch, Carna4, Dr. Marty’s, Fromm, Acana, Orijen, Zignature, The Honest Kitchen, and similar high-end lines
Ability to confidently explain the benefits of raw, freeze-dried, and gently cooked diets to customers transitioning from grocery-brand kibble
Strong knowledge of pet nutrition — able to guide customers on ingredients, life-stage needs, allergies, limited-ingredient diets, and how quality food supports long-term health (We pay more for Certified Pet Nutritionists)
A genuine passion for delivering personalized, high-touch service and building lasting relationships with pet parents (many of whom have shopped with us for decades)
Experience with eTailPet POS system is a big plus (we’ll fully train dedicated candidates from similar systems)
Physical ability to stand for full shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle light stocking, inventory, and cleaning tasks
Positive, proactive, problem-solving attitude with strong empathy and a true desire to help others
Reliable and flexible availability, including evenings and weekends (our busiest and most rewarding times)
Minimum 1–2 years as a Key Holder with experience in independent opening/closing procedures and basic till reconciliation
Important Note: This is a Key Holder position with high trust and responsibility for store security and operations. All final candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
What We Offer
Competitive hourly pay: $16–$20+ per hour (based on experience, certifications, and relevant premium pet retail background)
Spiffs and commissions on top of base pay for sharing your passion
Weekly pay
After 90 days: Free monthly premium food for your own dog or cat
Monthly ongoing training to expand your knowledge
Opportunity to become Pet Nutrition Certified with a pay raise upon completion
Warm, fun, and supportive family culture built on teamwork, trust, integrity, and accountability. We constantly strive to deliver the absolute best customer service and empower every team member to solve problems creatively. When great solutions are implemented, we award impact-level bonuses.
We stay on the cutting edge with modern technology: cloud-based POS hosted on AWS, powerful touchscreen systems, and continuous innovation to improve operations and the customer experience.
Closed on major holidays: Christmas, New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and 4th of July
One week of paid vacation after your first full year
Generous staff discounts on premium natural products
If you’re passionate about natural pet nutrition and want to grow with a trusted local business that truly cares, we hope to hear from you!
