    Outdoor Office Next designs and builds premium, purpose-built tiny office structures installed directly in residential backyards. Our compact, high-quality studios give professionals a dedicated, distraction-free workspace without ever leaving their property. As demand for remote-work solutions continues to grow, we are expanding our production and installation teams to serve homeowners across the region.

    Position Summary

    The Lead is a critical field leadership role responsible for overseeing the construction, delivery, and on-site installation of Outdoor Office Next backyard studio units. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Lead will manage a crew of carpenters and laborers, ensure builds are completed on schedule and to the company's quality standards, and serve as the primary client-facing representative during the installation process. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to an experienced tradesperson who takes pride in craftsmanship and team development.

    Key Responsibilities

    Field Leadership & Project Management

    • Lead a crew of 2 to 6 carpenters and laborers across multiple active job sites

    • Plan and sequence daily work to meet project timelines and milestones

    • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment logistics, and subcontractor scheduling

    • Conduct pre-installation site assessments and identify access or grading issues

    • Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification

    Construction & Installation

    • Direct and actively participate in the assembly and installation of prefabricated studio units

    • Oversee foundation preparation, anchoring, weatherproofing, and finish work

    • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and work orders

    • Perform quality control checks at all phases of the build process

    • Troubleshoot field issues and implement solutions with minimal disruption to the client

    Safety & Compliance

    • Enforce all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols on every job site

    • Conduct daily safety briefings and maintain a zero-incident work culture

    • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling of all tools and equipment

    • Complete and maintain required site documentation, permits, and inspection records

    Client Relations

    • Serve as the professional face of Outdoor Office Next at every installation

    • Communicate clearly with homeowners regarding daily progress and site expectations

    • Address client questions and concerns promptly and professionally

    • Ensure job sites are left clean, organized, and customer-ready at the end of each day

    Team Development

    • Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members on techniques, safety, and company standards

    • Provide performance feedback and support onboarding of new hires

    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 5+ years of hands-on construction experience, preferably in residential or light commercial building

    • 2+ years in a foreman, lead carpenter, or crew supervisor role

    • Strong working knowledge of framing, finish carpentry, roofing, and weatherproofing

    • Ability to read blueprints, construction drawings, and material specifications

    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and standard construction equipment

    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to tow trailers preferred

    • Excellent communication and leadership skills

    • Physical ability to lift 75 lbs., work outdoors in all weather conditions, and stand or kneel for extended periods

    Preferred

    • Experience with modular, prefab, or panelized construction

    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

    • Familiarity with residential permitting and inspection processes

    • Basic knowledge of electrical rough-in or low-voltage systems such as networking and lighting
