    Lead Preschool Teacher

    Cedar Gables Preschool & Childcare – Barnum Road, Danbury, CT Full-Time | Monday–Friday | $18–$21/hour

Come Lead a Classroom Where You Can Make a Difference

Cedar Gables Preschool & Childcare is looking for an experienced, energetic Lead Preschool Teacher who genuinely enjoys being with children and takes pride in creating a wonderful classroom.

We are looking for more than someone who can simply manage the day. Our ideal Lead Teacher is professional, dependable and takes initiative. You notice what needs to be done and take care of it. You take ownership of your classroom, communicate well, follow through, and don't need to wait for someone to tell you every next step.

Most importantly, you want to be with the children. Our teachers aren't sitting on the sidelines while children play. They're on the floor building, talking, reading, creating, exploring and learning alongside them.

If that sounds like the way you like to teach, you may be a great fit for Cedar Gables.

    What You'll Do

As a Lead Preschool Teacher, you'll take ownership of your classroom while working collaboratively with your teaching team and school leadership.

    You'll:

Create a warm, engaging and well-organized preschool classroom

Actively engage with children throughout the day through play, conversation, exploration and learning

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences

Lead classroom routines, transitions and activities

Guide and support your assistant teacher and help create a strong classroom team

Maintain an inviting classroom environment with accessible, meaningful learning materials

Observe children's development and complete required classroom documentation

Communicate warmly and professionally with families

Build positive relationships with children, families and coworkers

Notice classroom needs and take initiative to address them

Follow through on responsibilities without needing repeated reminders

Maintain high standards for health, safety, supervision and professionalism

Participate in professional development and contribute to the continued growth of our program

    We're Growing Our Quality

Cedar Gables is an established early childhood program committed to providing children with a nurturing, engaging place to love, play, learn and grow.

We are currently working toward NAEYC accreditation and are looking for a Lead Teacher who is excited to be part of a school that is continually growing and improving.

You don't need to know everything about NAEYC when you walk through the door. What matters most is that you care about quality, are open to learning, and take pride in doing things well.

You'll Be a Great Fit Here If...

    You are the teacher who:

Walks into your classroom and sees what needs to be done

Gets down on the floor and genuinely enjoys interacting with children

Brings energy, creativity and enthusiasm to the day

Takes pride in having an organized, welcoming classroom

    Is dependable and follows through

Communicates professionally with parents and coworkers

Can lead an assistant teacher respectfully and confidently

Accepts feedback and is always willing to learn

Looks for solutions instead of waiting for someone else to solve every problem

Wants to be part of a school where high-quality early childhood education matters

    Qualifications

We'd ideally love to find someone with:

3–5 years of preschool or early childhood classroom experience

CDA, associate degree or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

Connecticut Head Teacher approval or qualifications toward approval

Current First Aid and CPR certification

Experience leading a preschool classroom and working with assistant teachers

    Strong communication and organizational skills

These credentials are preferred rather than required. If you are an experienced preschool teacher with strong leadership skills and the right approach to children, we'd still like to hear from you.

Apply today to tell us about yourself and why you think you'd be a great Lead Teacher at Cedar Gables.
