    Job Description Lead Teacher - Preschool

    SUMMARY: The Lead Teacher is responsible for the education, daily care and recreation of children aged 3-5 years. Must demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities. Relate to children, parents and coworkers with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience. Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures. Ensure that no child is abused, neglected, or exploited while in the care of the center and report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to DFPS as specified in the Texas Family Code. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this position is expected to exhibit a genuine liking and understanding of children and a desire to share the general foundations of Christian Faith with them. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     •Supervise and help train assistants in classroom routines and regulations •Mentor assistants in appropriate teacher child interactions •Mentor assistants in all aspects of child instruction, curriculum and assessments •Follow and implement the pre-selected academic and Biblical curriculums of The Academy • Plan and implement daily learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy, phonemic, and print awareness, their understanding and use of language and increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of books, their understanding of early math and science, their problem-solving abilities and their approaches to learning. • Plan and provide daily classroom activities (both teacher-initiated and child-initiated) geared to meet the individual needs and interests of the children. • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment. Develop trusting relationships with children and families by creating a positive, nurturing environment •Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required. •Maintain confidentiality in staff and family information. •Be present (emotionally, mentally, and physically) at work to provide consistency of services. •Be a contributory team member in a positive/productive manner. •Demonstrate commitment to mission, values, and policies in the performance of daily duties. •Follow Academy procedures to ensure reporting of suspected child abuse and/or neglect. •Follow Academy procedures in reporting any suspected licensing deficiencies. •React productively to change and handle all other work-related responsibilities as assigned.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: •Criminal Background Check •Pediatric CPR and First Aid •Food Handlers Certificate •Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect 30 hours of Continuing Education completed annually
