Butterfly Staffing will be hiring an experienced LPSO to oversee marine species monitoring for an upcoming federal waterfront construction project. The LPSO will supervise a team of PSOs, conduct data collection, and ensure compliance with MMPA and project-specific environmental plans.

Responsibilities:

• Lead training and supervision of Protected Species Observers (PSOs).

• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.

• Monitor in-water activities and maintain detailed observation logs.

• Coordinate shutdown procedures during marine mammal sightings.

Qualifications:

• Prior PSO or marine biologist experience on similar projects.

• Degree in biology, marine science, or related field preferred.

• Must complete NAVFAC-led PSO training prior to project start.
