About Brooklyn Robot Foundry

Through hands-on, screen-free robot-building programs, we empower young builders to explore engineering principles, express their individuality, and gain confidence in their creative problem-solving abilities.
About the Role
We are seeking an energetic, whimsical, and patient Lead STEAM Teacher to lead our hands-on robotics workshops, after-school residencies, and camp programs. In this role, you won't just teach circuits and engineering—you’ll foster a growth mindset where trial and error are celebrated, and where no two robots look the same. If you are passionate about helping kids build cool, functioning gadgets using real tools, craft materials, and plenty of googly eyes, this is the role for you!
Responsibilities
Lead Creative Instruction: Guide small groups through step-by-step assembly of real electronic circuits, motors, and structural builds while encouraging creative customization.
Foster a Growth Mindset: Help students embrace trial and error, encouraging them to troubleshoot, rebuild, and learn from mistakes in a supportive environment.
Classroom & Safety Management: Manage project supplies, supervise safe tool usage (including low-temp glue guns and wire strippers), and keep the workspace organized and clean.
Encourage Individuality: Guide students to "go off-script" and decorate their creations using craft materials to express their unique personalities.
Operations & Communication: Handle daily logistics including attendance, setup/cleanup, tracking materials, and keeping parents updated on their child's progress.
Positive Culture: Bring energy, kindness, and a touch of silliness to every class to keep kids engaged and confident.
Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Education, STEAM, Engineering, Art, or a related field; prior experience teaching or leading activities for K–8th graders required.
Hands-on Crafting/Building Aptitude: Comfortable working with basic hand tools, simple circuits, motors, LEDs, and craft supplies (no advanced engineering degree required—we train you on our projects!).
Behavior & Classroom Management: Strong understanding of child development, positive reinforcement, and active classroom management.
Key Attributes: High energy, creative, flexible, compassionate, and comfortable celebrating goofiness alongside learning.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to build trust with children, parents, and administrative partners.
