    Lead Water Mitigation Technician

    Location: Fairfax, Virginia

    Barex Restoration Group – DMV is seeking a Lead Water Mitigation Technician who brings leadership, extreme ownership, and technical excellence to every job.

    This is not just a technician role. This is a field leadership position responsible for owning projects from first notice of loss through completion and setting the standard for execution, documentation, and customer experience.

    Job Summary

    The Lead Water Mitigation Technician is responsible for leading water mitigation projects from start to finish, serving as the primary point of contact for homeowners and insurance professionals, and ensuring every project meets industry standards and Barex operational protocols.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Ownership

    Take full ownership of assigned projects from loss through completion

    Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners, property managers, and insurance adjusters

    Clearly communicate the mitigation, drying, and contents process

    Technical Execution

    Perform water mitigation services in accordance with IICRC standards and company protocols

    Create moisture maps, drying logs, and detailed documentation using industry software (EnCircle preferred)

    Write or assist with estimates (Xactimate strongly preferred)

    Collaborate with estimators to ensure accurate scopes and documentation

    Leadership & Standards

    Lead, mentor, and supervise restoration technicians

    Identify project gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities and proactively correct them

    Maintain clean, organized job sites, trucks, warehouse areas, and equipment

    Inspect jobs at all stages to ensure top-quality execution and compliance

    Qualifications

    IICRC Certification (Required)

    Minimum 5 years of water mitigation experience

    Strong background in residential and commercial construction

    Proven leadership experience in restoration or construction environments

    Excellent customer service and communication skills

    Comfortable speaking with homeowners and insurance adjusters

    Xactimate experience strongly preferred

    EnCircle experience is a plus

    Spanish-speaking is a plus

    Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accountable

    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Willing to work overtime and participate in on-call rotation

    Requirements

    High School Diploma or GED

    Reliable transportation and clean driving record

    Willingness to undergo background and driving record checks

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs with assistance

    Comfortable working at heights and in tight spaces (crawl spaces, attics)

    Able to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods

    Compensation & Benefits

    Estimated Annual Compensation: $58,000 – $70,000+

    Includes:

    Base hourly pay: $28–$32 per hour

    Overtime pay

    On-call / emergency response pay

    Performance-based bonuses
