    SUMMARY

     

    Under the General Supervision of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, the Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will provide program-level support to our team and clients. This position requires proactive leadership, domain knowledge, and superior customer interaction skills. The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will assist the EHS Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and procedures to ensure compliance with contractual, federal, state, and local requirements. The key to success will be the ability to effectively balance competing priorities and interests, and a relentless drive to deliver quality performance.

     

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Performs EHS inspections and audits on preventive maintenance processes, equipment configuration changes, and other facility related tasks to ensure personnel and subcontractors follow approved safety procedures and directives.

    • Assist in controlling or eliminating unsafe conditions, hazards, and risks in human performance that may cause injury to persons or damage to property.

    • Provide technical safety training and instruction on specific safety procedures to supervisors, employees and/or safety representatives on such areas as proper storage of hazardous materials, common hazards, and procedures in coordination with regulatory training requirements.

    •  Documents corrective actions required when violations of approved practices and procedures are noted and performs follow up observations when necessary.

    • Works with the EHS Manager on EHS related issues and concerns and matters pertaining to unsafe working conditions, emergencies, and equipment and personnel hazards.

    • Works with shop personnel in performing inspections, deficiency resolution and maintaining documentation regarding safe quality of work.

    • Consolidates, prepares, and maintains a variety of EHS correspondence and documentation related inspections, results, noted deficiencies, and preventive and corrective action plans.

    • Prepares EHS reports summarizing EHS inspection activities, initiatives taken to improve customer satisfaction, performance quality, and operational efficiency.

    • Assists the EHS Manager in determining root causes of deficiencies as well as identifying remedial and preventive actions required to effect continual improvement.

    • Assess, update, and develop Occupational Health and Safety programs and guidance materials.

    • Other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager and the Program Manager.

     

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS – EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

     

    • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
    • Knowledge of EHS requirements and regulations.
    • B.S. degree and/or relevant experience.
    • Ability to obtain Department of State clearance.
    • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.

     

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

     

    • Knowledge of quality assurance and safety principles, which include planning, program review, personnel certification and qualifications, corrective action and follow up action, audits, documentation control, trend analysis development and monitoring.  

    • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, research and communication (written and verbal) skills, problem solving skills, and demonstrate the ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.

    • Customer service focused and have good time management skills.

    • Detail-oriented, proactive, and well organized.

    • Works independently and as part of a team, exercises sound judgment and considerable initiative to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Essential functions require light to moderate physical exertion in lifting and carrying items weighing from 10 to 30 pounds. The position requires long periods of standing, stooping, climbing and working in areas of operating equipment. Work shall be performed throughout the buildings and some outside work may be required.

    Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States and for TTI are required.

     

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

     

    As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
