Legacy System Modernization Consultant (COBOL/JCL to Databricks)
We are seeking 1-2 experienced consultants to support the modernization of legacy mainframe applications. The ideal candidates will have strong expertise in COBOL and JCL, with proven experience analyzing, translating, and re-platforming mainframe logic to modern cloud-based
data platforms such as Databricks.

This role will play a key part in transforming legacy data processing systems into scalable, cloud-native solutions.

Your key responsibilities:
● Analyze existing COBOL and JCL code to extract business logic and data workflows.
● Translate and re-engineer legacy processes using Databricks (PySpark, SQL, Delta
Lake).
● Document system behavior and technical design for modern implementation.
● Work closely with architects, analysts, and developers to ensure accurate migration.
● Conduct unit testing, validation, and performance tuning of modernized code.
● Provide documentation and knowledge transfer for ongoing support.

Required Qualifications:
● 5+ years of experience with COBOL and JCL in a mainframe environment (e.g., z/OS).
● 2+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
● Strong understanding of data migration and legacy modernization best practices.
● Proficiency with SQL and modern data engineering workflows.
● Ability to reverse-engineer and refactor legacy systems for cloud platforms.
● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
● Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills:
● Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
● Familiarity with mainframe data sources (e.g., VSAM, flat files).
● Knowledge of job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M).

● Background in financial services, insurance, or other legacy-heavy industries.
