Job Overview

Legacy IPS is gearing up to fulfill a Medical Billing Specialist role in the greater San Francisco area. In this role you will be responsible for organizing patient medical cost and sending invoices to collect payment from patients and their insurers. You will assist patients with setting up payment plans, entering patient data into systems and document information about outstanding claims.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Post Charges
• Submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers
• Process claims
• Research information on cases where the coding is very complex or unusual
• Review patient charts for accuracy
• Ensure all codes are current and active
• Check eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures
• Follow up on unpaid claims
• Research and appeal denied claims

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or GED

• Knowledge of insurance rules and policies including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer systems

• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding

• Solid oral and written communication skills

• Problems-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals and collections
