This is your opportunity to lead evaluation of children’s academic performance and social development with a proven curriculum designed to provide a well rounded education to all students.
As a Legacy Online Academy Teacher, you will be responsible for providing direct instruction using an online curriculum including Junior High Math and Science. You will teach from a Legacy Traditional Schools campus to students enrolled in our Legacy Online Academy.
*THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION- YOU WILL BE REPORTING IN PERSON DAILY TO OUR NORTH PHOENIX CAMPUS LOCATED AT 4545 N 99TH AVE-PEORIA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The teacher will deliver core course content (Math, Science) through Schoology using Legacy’s curriculum.
The teacher will adapt the Legacy course content to fit the online mode.
The teacher will outline the weekly schedule and assignments for his or her class.
The teacher will post a weekly schedule every Friday for the following week.
The teacher will conduct live classes with groups of students as scheduled.
The teacher will facilitate online learning that will include two live tutoring sessions a week where students can interact with teachers and ask questions.
The teacher will interact daily with students through Schoology discussion boards using text, audio, or video messages.
The Teacher will assist students with any minor technical challenges they may encounter.
Standardized online course materials will be provided to each teacher. It is the responsibility of the teacher to add to or revise the materials to meet the varying needs of students. This includes, but is not limited to discussion posts, assignments, quizzes, and tests that will be mapped out in advance for families at the beginning of every week.
The teacher will prepare feedback for students on individual assignments in Schoology.
The teacher will post final grades in SIS (PowerSchool)
The teacher will communicate specific details about submitting assignments through Schoology. Students will submit assignments through Schoology.
The teacher will take daily attendance.
Teachers will encourage significant support from parents for students in Grades K-2 when completing online classes.
The teacher will participate in staff meetings and collaborative team meetings as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education, Licensure, or Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Education
Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Arizona Teaching Certificate
Appropriately Certified in grade or subject according to ESSA requirements and Department of Education
The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
WORK EXPERIENCE OR RELATED EXPERIENCE
Experience teaching the specific grade level in the classroom and/or online
Highly Qualified (i.e. 2019-20 Teacher Evaluation if current LTS employee)
Passion for technology and familiarity with online learning
Familiarity with materials in multiple subject areas
Engaging personality
Flexibility and passion for getting something off the ground
Organized and Professional
Spalding training
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A Legacy Schools Online Instructor must be a self-starter, and willing to lead an online course using Legacy Traditional School curriculum.
Legacy will provide course plans, books, software, and training needed to be successful in the role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Proficiency in Google G-Suite for Education software
Proficiency using Schoology
Proficiency in communicating online and through a variety of forms and digital tools
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to independently complete thorough and accurate work
