    Legal Assistant at Brownwood, TX Bilingual in Spanish and English for an Immigration Law Firm Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits: • 401(k) • 401(k) matching Responsibilities: • Assist attorney at the Brownwood, TX location, in preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, applications, and contracts. • Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy. • Manage case files and maintain organized records for easy access and retrieval. • Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information for cases. • File documents with USCIS, courts, and other relevant agencies in compliance with legal procedures. • Draft correspondence and communicate effectively with clients in Spanish and English, and communicate with ICE, USCIS, and court personnel. • Schedule appointments, manage calendars, and coordinate meetings for attorneys. • Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing emails, taking payments, and maintaining office supplies. Qualifications: • Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education • Bilingual in English and Spanish (speak, read, and write). • At least two years of proven experience handling immigration cases directly, under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting. • Excellent organization and time management skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously. • Detail-oriented. Strong administrative skills and a solid understanding of various areas of immigration law. • Familiarity with various areas of immigration law, including family-based adjustments, waivers, consular processing, removal defense, DACA, FOIAs, and Naturalization. • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents. • Excellent interviewing skills to effectively gather information from clients and witnesses. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal management software is advantageous. Compensation: $18 - $25 hourly
