Our San Diego-based criminal defense law firm is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-directed bilingual (Spanish-speaking) legal assistant who can serve as a key point of contact for our current clients. You must be able to multitask and think on your feet while making smart decisions. A base salary will be commensurate with skill, experience, and will be at or above market. We offer a generous PTO/Sick time policy, up to $5,250 per year in tax-free student loan and tuition repayment, a 401(k) and cash balance plan, and Firm-sponsored medical insurance, disability insurance, and life insurance for full-time employees. Responsibilities: Daily tasks shall include: • Conveying confidence in person and on the phone, demonstrating exceptional communication skills and an ability to develop rapport with current clients, local courts, and prosecutorial agencies ( primary duty) • Implementing, improving, and ensuring adherence to the Firm’s policies and procedures to reflect the Firm’s high standards • Embracing attention to detail, transparency, and accountability • Strong multitasking and task management skills; a self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic • Treating a client or task at 5:15 P.M. on a Friday with the same care and compassion as one Monday morning at 9:15 A.M. • Managing multiple calendars and keeping schedules for more than one person • Copying, scanning, and filing (physical and electronic filing) • Data entry using common web-based formats; Familiarity with MS Office Suite • Translating orally and in writing for the Firm's Spanish-speaking (potential) clients Qualifications: • A willingness to be immersed in the sales aspect of the business is a plus. • Experience working at a law firm is preferred but not necessary to apply. More importantly, candidates must have a strong customer service background. • This is not an entry-level or a virtual/hybrid position. • Spanish language fluency required— you must be able, willing, and ready to translate at a moment's notice. Compensation: $30 - $33 hourly
