Responsibilities: • Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly • Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines • Complete legal research as needed under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals • Help with creating a variety of litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when necessary • Manage assigned case files to ensure deadlines are met by other team members • Attend weekly meetings to prioritize assignments and incorporate workflows • Keep clients apprised of case status, court dates, and progress Qualifications: • Must be able to prioritize tasks with demanding deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment • Candidates should have strong organizational skills and communication skills • Ability to comfortably use all Microsoft Office products • 1-2 years of prior experience in a law firm environment as a secretary or administrative assistant • Some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required • At least 5 years of experience in a law firm setting, performing administrative tasks • Experience in criminal law is a plus • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines with quick turnaround times • Experience in billing time accurately and efficiently • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite • Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal • Patient and consistent in maintaining established standards, guidelines, and procedures • Unhurried, methodical, and step-by-step approach to well-defined, repetitive tasks • Ability to investigate information with empathy and a positive attitude • Effective team player and collaborator with a cooperative approach to work Compensation: $17 - $25 hourly
