Due to the nature of the company, a Legal Assistant should be familiar with legal terminology, detail orientated and work well with others on a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants. As a Legal Assistant with our firm, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of injury-related legal matters and become a contributor member working toward the success of our firm.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    · Telephone communication (inbound & outbound phone calls) with our firm’s clients to provide an accurate status of the client’s legal claim, answer any questions they may have, obtain missing information/documents, etc.

    · Handle and process in-coming client communication (including preparing material needed for lawyer’s review), as well as out-going correspondence, including emails, text messages, and mail to clients.

    · Draft, edit, and disseminate information to clients through email and letters, and to internal staff via email and spreadsheets.

    · Correspond with firm’s third-party vendors via phone or email in a timely manner.

    · Update and maintain the firm’s legal Client Relationship Management software in real time.

    · Manage electronic case files in compliance with firm policies and Document Management System.

    · Order medical records from medical facilities/medical providers.

    · Conduct legal research and gather relevant information as directed by paralegals/attorneys.

    · Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports to send to internal staff.

    · Schedule meetings for attorneys as needed.

    · Carry out administrative duties associated with special projects as assigned by paralegals/attorneys.

    · Perform routine clerical tasks and other miscellaneous legal duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    · High school diploma or GED required.

    · Some college or associate’s degree preferred.

    · Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in the legal field or professional customer service industry required.

    · Advanced computer and software application skills, including web browsers (Windows, Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Edge, etc.).

    · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, MSWord, Excel, OneDrive, Teams etc.

    · Typing speed of 45+ WPM with accuracy.

    · Knowledge of legal terminology.

    · Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.

    · Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing.

    · Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

    · Superb organizational and time management skills to include meticulous attention to detail.

    · Ability to manage numerous tasks, prioritize deliverables, adhering to tight deadlines.

    · Possess research and problem-solving skills.

    · Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to handle a wide variety of personalities with professionalism.

    · Strong sense of integrity, initiative, and extraordinary teamwork aptitude.

    · Reliable with schedule flexibility and availability to work occasional overtime as required.

    · Excellent customer service skills with an ability to promote and maintain a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

    Schedule, Pay and Work Environment:

    · Work is performed in an office work environment in Houston, TX 77098.

    · Must be able to work at a computer for considerable periods of time.

    · Full-time position requiring a five-day work week (M-F) with standard hours as outlined in our firm’s policy handbook.

    · Hourly wage/paid by the hour.

    · Occasional overtime, including weekend hours, when necessary to meet established deadlines.
