    Legal NorCal P.C., a growing estate planning and probate firm in Chico, CA, is seeking a detail‑oriented Legal Assistant to support our attorney and legal team in delivering excellent service to clients. This is a fully in‑person position. About the Role You will work closely with our attorney and office manager to: • Draft and format legal documents (estate plans, deeds, letters, and related documents) under attorney supervision. • Assist with basic legal research and preparation of documents for client meetings, hearings, and other appointments. • Maintain accurate client files (physical and electronic) and ensure our case management system is up to date. • Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and ensure deadlines and key dates are captured in the firm’s master calendar. • Support front desk operations as needed, including answering phones, triaging calls, welcoming visitors, and routing mail. This role includes billable work, and you’ll be expected to meet attainable billable-time goals while also supporting key administrative functions. Responsibilities: • Answer and triage incoming calls, gather caller information, and serve as a professional first point of contact. • Greet clients and visitors, create a welcoming environment, and assist with check‑in. • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and packages; maintain related logs. • Schedule and confirm meetings, reserve conference rooms, and help prevent scheduling conflicts. • Maintain and organize client case files; prepare binders and document sets using firm checklists. • Draft letters, basic legal documents, discovery responses, and summaries for attorney review. • Enter billable time contemporaneously into the case management system. • Handle confidential information with discretion and in compliance with firm policies and ethical rules. • Collaborate with a remote paralegal, intake specialist, and attorney to prepare for upcoming client meetings. Qualifications: What We’re Looking For: • High school diploma required; some college or a degree preferred. • At least 1 year of office experience (legal setting preferred but not required for the right candidate). • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional, courteous demeanor. • Excellent organization and multitasking skills; able to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment. • Reliable, punctual, and a self‑starter who can take ownership of tasks. • Comfortable working directly with clients and delivering strong customer service. • Tech‑savvy and confident using Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data entry in CRM/CMS systems. • Familiarity with multi‑line phone systems and office equipment. • Experience in estate planning, probate, or working in a small law firm is a plus. Compensation: $20 - $25 hourly
