Our busy legal firm is looking for an efficient, organized legal assistant to help our attorneys assist clients and ensure we’re operating efficiently. Our firm is a dynamic, growing litigation law firm based in New York City. We represent clients across state and federal matters, offering an environment for professional growth and hands-on legal experience. Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Law Clerk to support our litigation practice group. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys with comprehensive legal research, draft pleadings and motions, manage discovery documents, and interact professionally with clients and court clerks. Responsibilities: • Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly • Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines • Complete legal research as needed under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals • Use daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting department • Schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, make travel arrangements, and coordinate with outside vendors for events • Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested Conduct in-depth legal research utilizing Westlaw and/or LexisNexis. Draft legal memoranda, briefs, motions, and discovery requests/responses. Assist with electronic case filing (NYSCEF and Federal ECF systems) and manage court dockets and correspondence. Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and evidentiary materials. Track billable hours accurately in compliance with firm standards. Assist and handle all office correspondence, including answering phone calls and emails. Arrange meetings with clients and correspond with clients, attorneys, and the Court. Be organized and able to meet upcoming deadlines. Qualifications: • Some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required • Candidates should have strong organizational skills and communication skills • Candidates must have worked with legal software, case management, and docketing programs • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary • Must be able to type at least 50 WPM Compensation: $52,000 - $65,000 yearly
