A leading global law firm with a long-standing presence in New York City is seeking an entry-level Risk Management Legal Assistant to join its Office of General Counsel. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated recent graduate to gain practical experience in legal risk, compliance, and professional responsibility within a dynamic and collaborative legal environment. Key Responsibilities
Team-Focused Support
- Assist the Office of General Counsel in delivering legal and risk management support across the firm.
- Communicate regularly with partners, associates, and staff regarding policies and procedures.
- Respond to inquiries about key risk management policies and protocols.
- Help maintain and update the firm’s conflicts databases.
- Support practice area trainings and develop relevant subject matter knowledge.
Administrative & Legal Tasks
- Review and revise internal firm documents and policies.
- Assist with projects related to risk management, professional responsibility, and conflicts.
- Help establish and maintain internal information barriers ("ethical walls").
- Review client engagement letters and outside counsel guidelines.
- Conduct legal and ethics research and draft training materials.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Willingness to commit to the firm for two years.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work overtime and travel if needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
