Our law firm is seeking a sharp individual to join our accounting department as a billing specialist and also perform general office assistant duties. You will have the opportunity to work with billing attorneys and their assistants and the bookkeeper to revise, process, and issue accurate monthly legal billing. Consistent follow-up is required in this role, so prior experience in accounts receivable is a valuable asset. As an office assistant, you will run outside errands to the court, bank, and other legal offices; you will stock supplies, assist the Legal Assistants and paralegals, and cover the front desk. Responsibilities: • Disperse monthly invoices to billing attorneys for initial review • Revise invoices in accordance with attorney requests and prepare final bills for mailing • Review reports indicating past due accounts and follow up on when to expect payment • Process incoming payments to appropriate accounts and keep precise financial records • Make sure any billing inquiries are resolved by working with the client’s accounting department • Perform general office duties, including outside errands, stocking supplies, assisting others, and closing files. A reliable vehichle which is registered and insured is required Qualifications: • Superb written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills are necessary for this position • Ability to handle multiple projects at a time and meet deadlines • High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is helpful • Computer proficiency with MS Office, Excel, and billing software programs is essential Compensation: $18 - $20 hourly DOE
