Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Medical Records Clerk with at least two years of experience in the legal field. This role is responsible for obtaining, gathering, organizing, and managing medical records and billing information to support legal cases. The medical records clerk plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and legal compliance of all records, particularly in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Request and obtain medical records and billing information from healthcare providers
Verify accuracy and completeness of received records
Organize and maintain electronic records in a secure and confidential system
Track record requests and follow up with providers to ensure timely delivery
Respond to information requests from attorneys and other authorized personnel
Ensure all records and communications comply with HIPAA and legal standards
Assist with preparing medical record summaries or indexes, if required
Communicate effectively with internal legal teams and external medical providers
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in medical records management, preferably in a legal setting
Strong understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
Excellent organizational and time management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with electronic records systems
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
