Foster Garvey PC, one of the Pacific Northwest’s leading law firms, is looking for a Legal Practice Assistant to join the Spokane office to primarily support attorneys in our Business, Trust & Estate, Tax & Benefits and Real Estate/Land Group practice groups.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, enjoy teamwork, and possess strong communication skills (both written and interpersonal). A commitment to client service, attention to detail, and proofreading proficiency are essential, as are the ability to organize, prioritize, and complete numerous tasks under time constraints.
This a full-time onsite position in our Spokane office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Occasional overtime may be necessary to accommodate client needs.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, proofread, format and revise correspondence and documents.
- Prepare engagement letters and waivers, as requested and needed.
- Schedule appointments and conference room reservations.
- Coordinate travel arrangements, as requested.
- Assists attorneys with management of their calendars, including proactive coordination with the attorney in advance of commitments and deadlines by using automated calendar management tools.
- Assist and spearhead the coordination of notebook and binder projects.
- Run conflict checks (Intapp Open), as requested.
- Enroll attorneys in CLE courses and assist with CLE questions and recording.
- Process timely expense reimbursements through Chrome River.
- In-person support to include scanning or copying projects, as requested to include title binders, agreements and contracts.
- Assist in reviewing and finalizing attorney pre-bills.
- Establish effective working relationships and appropriately interact with others.
- Remain current in industry trends relevant to the position and the legal profession.
- Ensure expertise in technology relevant to position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
- Observes attorney-client confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Broad computer knowledge, skills and proficiency with Windows Operating System, Word Processing, Spreadsheets (Excel), presentations (PowerPoint), Internet (Chrome and Firefox), and other compatible and related software. Prior knowledge of iManage as well as prior experience in generating Table of Contents and Table of Authorities is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize issues and workload as well as anticipate projects that need to be completed.

Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience in legal or professional services organization, or high school diploma and 5-7 years of experience in legal or professional services organization, or equivalent experience.
- Legal secretary or paralegal certificate is preferred.
- Notary certification desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical requirements for this position generally include, but are not limited to:
- Manual dexterity for keyboarding and file organization.
- Writing.
- Intensive reading of small or fine print.
- Frequent use of a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
- Frequent light lifting, bending, and reaching (likely to occur each day with filing, administrative, and organizational projects.)
- The ability to hear through the phone and transcription equipment.
- Frequent sitting and moving about the office.
- Considerable use of cognitive processes.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.

Salary Range:
The pay range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 annually; however, actual pay may vary depending on the candidate’s education, training, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
