We are a boutique two-attorney elder law firm dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized, and high-quality legal services to our clients. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our team in Westfield, New Jersey.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, professional, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain attorney calendars, including scheduling appointments, meetings, court appearances, and deadlines.
- Coordinate communications with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
- Prepare, format, proofread, and distribute legal documents, correspondence, and client communications.
- Maintain and organize case files, records, and legal documents.
- Track deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks across multiple matters.
- Provide administrative and office support to attorneys as needed.
- Assist with client intake, appointment scheduling, and general office operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar legal support role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines with accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Experience working in a law firm environment preferred.
- Experience in elder law, estate planning, probate, or related practice areas is a plus.
