Though our program is structured, our legal interns have the flexibility and freedom to tailor their experience to their career goals and interests. Our legal interns research case law and prepare correspondence on a variety of legal issues, which help our attorneys and/or legal paraprofessionals prepare for court, they assist attorneys and legal paraprofessionals with drafting documents such as subpoenas, motions, and pleadings, and they coordinate with paralegals on court filings and calendaring important dates to keep files accurate, attend our community pro bono events, and other various projects. Students who are reliable and dedicated, appreciate innovation and collaboration, and are naturally empathetic do best in this position. Responsibilities: • Write legal memoranda specifying results of research in order to assist in determining the best course of action for court proceedings • Prepare the initial drafts of various documents, such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests/responses • Organize and maintain files to ensure information is up to date and deadlines are properly docketed • Conduct legal research to confirm cited legal authority for judges and attorneys Qualifications: • Should have great attention to detail and a strong work ethic • Candidates must have great writing and communication skills • Current law school student with an undergraduate degree or LP Compensation: $20 hourly
