Job Description

Essential Functions

• Support and assist other analysts to ensure that the reporting and analytical needs of clients are fully met, that data gathered is appropriately and accurately analyzed, and the company's standards for high quality work are maintained.   
• Recognize opportunities for efficiencies and show initiatives in implementation.
• Work with other analysts and clients to identify opportunities for health care data analysis in support of analytical projects covering a broad spectrum of issues and topics, such as health plan pricing, financial projections, analysis of provider reimbursement approaches, retiree medical plan valuations, claim data analysis, and calculation of reserve requirements for health benefit plans and related benefits. 
• Design and maintain data systems and databases.  This includes fixing coding errors and other data-related problems. 
• Utilize programming languages, Excel, MS Access, and other database programs to mine data from primary and secondary sources.  Reorganize data in a format that can be easily read by other analysts or actuaries.
• Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.  
• Prepare reports that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data. Create, modify, or generate customized graphical user interfaces, applications, models, reports, and illustrative diagrams. Conduct research, statistical, and analytical studies to fulfill client requests related to a variety of health plan related issues. 
• Perform special studies and projects.  Report results and potential issues, assist in identifying and evaluating alternatives. 
• Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.

Skills and Prior Experience Requirements

• Significant prior data analysis experience working with health care claim and enrollment data
• The ability to pay attention to detail when working with data in order to make accurate conclusions and predictions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share findings
• A solid understanding of data sources, data organization and storage
• Strong IT and mathematical skills
• In-depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques
• Knowledge of relevant relational databases
• Must be English-speaking and able to communicate in a clear, concise, and organized manner

Education Level Required

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Systems, or related discipline

Additional Details

• On-site work is required.  Remote work is not an option for this position.
• Business hours:  8:00 to 5:00 Pacific, Monday through Friday.  Some flexibility allowed within Company standards.
• Company benefits include paid leave, life insurance, medical insurance, dental insurance, retirement plan, ten paid holidays
• Salary range:  $65,000 to $81,000 depending on experience, including annual bonus

We are woman-owned and have been in business for over 25 years. Our headquarters are in Denver and we also have an office in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. We are a small business with only seven employees which we hope to grow to nine. Although we are small, we do big projects and business is good.
