Job Description

LevelUp Force has an immediate need for a Principal Network Engineer to support one of our prestigious Satellite Network Provider customers in Gaithersburg, MD with working on the development of state-of-the-art networking and management solutions including SATCOM, IP/Ethernet and 5G components for secure communications and working as part of a team architecting and deploying a pioneering telecom infrastructure with innovative technologies.

WORK LOCATION WILL BE ONSITE IN GAITHERSBURG, MD WITH APPROXIMATELY 30% TRAVEL

US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide network design, operation, and technical end-user support leadership.
• Guide team for architecture, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers and program management in a timely and effective manner.
• Collaborate with the team on the development and maintenance of network infrastructure.
• Optimize server, edge cloud, and network capacity and performance to keep up with demand in traffic.
• Develop data security processes and tools for routine operations.
• Train junior IT staff and provide on-site field technicians with remote technical support.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in engineering related discipline.
• Must be able to obtain and hold a US government security clearance.
• 5+ years of experience developing and operating complex technical projects.
• Strong experience with a variety of networking devices and software components.
• Good understanding of Linux (Cent OS or related flavor) and installation of packages.
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP and routing/switching.
• Good knowledge of computer networking principles with Ethernet and IPv4, v6.
• Good knowledge of network security.
• Experience and use with Kubernetes and Containers. 
• Experience configuring physical hardware like Dell servers e.g. from CDs, Flash disk and iDRAC.
• Experience writing technical documents for external customers.
• Ability to travel 25-30%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CISCO Certification
• Scripting knowledge (Python, Shell scripts)
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
