    Position Summary:

    Provide outage management leadership throughout the planning, execution and post close-out phases of scheduled and forced outages for Utility generation units. Overall responsibility includes leadership and oversight of all aspects of planning, scheduling, execution and post outage activities per Outage Readiness Index (ORI) process guidelines. Ensures compliance with established ORI guidelines. Provides and obtains feedback to promote continuous improvement to Outage Management processes.

    Primary Duties:

    • Serve as Outage Manager for all scheduled outages at assigned plant(s). Provide leadership and oversight of all aspects of planning, scheduling, execution, reporting, cost forecasting, and post outage activities of scheduled and forced unit outages for Utility generation units.
    • Ensure compliance with established Outage Readiness Index (ORI) process guidelines.
    • Facilitate outage cost and schedule recovery plans through engagement of project managers and plant stakeholders as necessary to ensure planned cost and schedule duration are met.
    • Monitor adherence to pre-outage milestones as described in the ORI process.
    • Identify, negotiate and recommend effective contingency plans to support achievement of outage goals.
    • Monitor outage preparation and implementation of performance and create opportunities for outage optimization in time and cost savings.
    • Oversight of the outage integrated schedule and outage schedulers.
    • Provide plant and other management outage status updates as necessary throughout all phases of forced or scheduled unit outages.
    • Facilitate lesson learned meetings.
    • Provide and obtain feedback to promote continuous improvement to Outage Management processes.
    • Facilitate pre-outage status update meetings as necessary and at minimum as per ORI guidelines.
    • Facilitate status update meetings as necessary during outage execution and post outage phases.
    • Prepare complete and accurate reports of managed projects/outages and ensure they are properly documented.
    • Effectively interfaces with Power Supply management; develop effective team relationships with utility members involved in outages.
    • Provide the primary focal point for all communications (technical and financial) externally and internally relative to a specific outage.

    Requirements:

    • High School diploma combined with a minimum of Nine (9) years power generation or other related industry maintenance (e.g., Plant Mechanic, Plant Electrician) or operations (e.g., Operator) experience combined with demonstrated experience in both a planning/scheduling and power generation outage management role (e.g., acted as lead during an outage); or Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related technical field (e.g., Construction Management) combined with a minimum of Six (6) years power generations or other related industry maintenance (e.g., Plant Mechanic, Plant Electrician) or operations (e.g., Operator, Planner) combined with demonstrated experience in both a planning/scheduling and power generation outage management role (e.g., acted as lead during an outage); or Bachelor's degree in Engineering combined with Two (2) years power generation Engineering experience and demonstrated experience with power plant outages.
    • Valid state driver's license.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience as a project manager leading projects in excess of $1M.
    • PMP certification.
    • Knowledge of scheduling software such as P6 Primavera and Microsoft Project.
    • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems such as SAP.
    • Experience in outage planning and execution of large industrial facilities (power plants, refineries, chemical plant, etc.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of (or demonstrated ability to learn) outage management and project controls including cost forecasting, resource allocations, and schedule management.
    • Knowledge of (or demonstrated ability to learn) power plant systems and interrelationships as well as equipment maintenance practices.
    • Knowledge of (or demonstrated ability to learn) Primavera P6 and/or MS Projects scheduling software.
    • Knowledge of (or demonstrated ability to learn) various drawing types used at generating stations such as P&ID's, schematics, etc.
    • Ability to manage multiple outages concurrently when required.
    • Ability to influence through tactfulness and diplomacy those both within and outside of department involved in outage management processes.
    • Knowledge of various drawing types used at generating stations such as P&ID's, schematics, etc.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and work with a wide variety of work styles including craft, engineering, and management at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals; ability to develop and maintain team relationships and working environment.
    • Ability to lead organized and effective meetings.

    Working Conditions:

    • Required to attend training and/or seminars both in and out-of-state as necessary.
    • May be required to work at high elevations (e.g. approximately 100 ft. or greater).
    • Required to travel to all plants in the fleets as necessary.
    • May be required to work non-standard hours, which may include weekends and holidays, to meet business needs.
    • May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
    • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while at a field or plant location.
    • May be subject to elevated noise levels while at a field or plant location.
    • Work involves the use of computer equipment including a keyboard, mouse and computer monitor.

    Special Safety Requirements:

    • All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive.
