Design Group is recruiting for a BUYER in our BERWICK, PA location. This position has the flexibility to work remotely part of the time. The BUYER will be on site in Berwick 2 days and 3 days remote. WHAT WILL I DO IN THIS ROLE? IN THIS ROLE, THE BUYER WILL WORK FROM A STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVE WHILE ENSURING THAT ALL TACTICAL REQUIREMENTS ARE FULFILLED. WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO SELECT, TRAIN, AND DEVELOP SUPPLIERS WHILE WORKING TO BUILD SOLID SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS. THIS PERSON WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NEGOTIATING AND ENFORCING PRICING AND COMMERCIAL TERMS WITH ALL ASSOCIATED SUPPLIERS. THE BUYER WILL WORK INTENSIVELY TO MANAGE COMMODITIES TO GENERATE CHANGES THAT REDUCE COST, IMPROVE PRODUCT QUALITY, EXPEDITE ACTIVITIES, REDUCE LEAD TIME, AND IMPROVE RELIABILITY. THE BUYER WILL ACTIVELY WORK TO ENABLE INVENTORY REDUCTION AND CONTROL WHILE ENHANCING SERVICE LEVEL TO INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMERS. THIS PERSON WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD MEETINGS WITH SUPPLIER PERSONNEL. WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED? We are seeking someone with 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with buying experience for raw materials, chemicals, printing inks, and dyes. The ideal candidate will have broad and thorough knowledge of purchasing theory, principles, and practices typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Someone with experience supporting a multi-location organization is a plus. An ideal candidate will have intermediate proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook. We are seeking someone with experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards. A Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is a definite plus. WHAT DOES DESIGN GROUP OFFER ME?

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

    • Trouble shoot programmable controllers, A/C and D/C Drives, control systems, pneumatic and electrical systems up to 480/3/60
    • Perform routine general maintenance according to preventative maintenance schedule to maximize machine utilization
    • Follow up all work in order to ensure repairs are performed in a timely manner\
    • Identify and perform equipment improvements and upgrade
    • Ensure equipment has proper settings and make adjustments when necessary for optimum equipment performance to manufacture quality products
    • Help maintain good housekeeping in work areas
    • Participate on cross functional continuous improvement teams

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment (preferably corrugated manufacturing)
    • Ability to read and follow instruction manuals
    • Intermediate math skills to be able to calculate measurements
    • Familiar with computerized maintenance tracking systems
    • Prefer experience with continuous improvement tools and techniques
    • Basic knowledge of quality systems including ISO-9001
