    Position Summary

    Working with the Optometrist and patient care team, the Optician guides patients from prescription to finished eyewear, including frame and lens selection, order management, dispensing, repairs, and troubleshooting.

    Modern Eyes is not a high-pressure sales environment. We focus on education, trust, accuracy, and personalized product recommendations. We are looking for an experienced optician with a current Massachusetts license, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and pride in their work.

    This is a full-time, 40-hours/week position with a Tuesday-Saturday schedule.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Welcome patients warmly and professionally

    Assist with frame and lens selection, accurate measurements, prescription verification, and patient education

    Manage optical orders from entry through tracking, communication, receiving, quality control, and follow-up

    Dispense, adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyewear

    Review fees, insurance benefits, balances, payments, and documentation clearly and accurately

    Maintain an organized optical area, frame board, and lab area

    Manage frames inventory, contact lenses, and lab supplies

    Use EMR systems, ordering platforms, office software, and phones accurately

    Assist with contact lens insertion/removal and hygiene training

    Communicate with labs, vendors, and insurance plans

    Support patient flow and basic clinical or administrative tasks as needed

    Experience & Employment Requirements

    Current Massachusetts optician's license

    Experience with frame/lens selection, dispensing, adjustments, and repairs

    Strong communication, patient care, and teamwork skills

    Attention to detail and accurate documentation

    Comfort using technology

    Authorization to work in the United States

    Ability to work full-time, in-person at our practice location

    Availability to work a Tuesday-Saturday schedule

    Preferred:

    Independent eyewear, premium lenses, specialty lens designs, and contact lens training experience

    Familiarity with ophthalmic terminology, insurance, and claims

    Experience with EMR and ordering platforms

    Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

    Performing close visual tasks, measurements, order review, and documentation

    Using fine motor skills for eyewear measurements, adjustments, and repairs

    Moving throughout the office to assist patients and access supplies and equipment

    Occasionally lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds

    Remaining attentive, patient, and professional in a busy setting
