    Job Description

    Compass Government Solutions LLC is currently seeking a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor to provide services at a the Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston, Texas. In preparation to bid on this contract, we are seeking qualified candidates willing to be included in our proposal as interested and skilled individuals.

    Job Requirements

    • Provides brief individual and group cognitive/behavioral interventions.

    • May provide classes (e,g,, stress management class, sleep enhancement class, chronic pain class).

    • Works independently in the absence of direct oversight and adheres to Air Force values. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing and resolving professional issues.

    • Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous.

    • Must possess organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/care givers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous way.

    • Participates in team efforts to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical
      pathway programs needed.

    • Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in the patient's
      electronic medical record within the allowable timeframe defined by the MTF standard
      after the patient is seen.

    • Duties will include participating in approved research projects.

    • Use validated brief symptom inventories to assess current symptom severity.

    • Assess barriers to treatment adherence and help patient problem-solve solutions to
      barriers.

    • Provide patients with education regarding their behavioral health condition and
      treatment regimen.

    • Maintain patient information in a patient registry.

    • Maintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all
      patients contacted for review by the managing physician.

    • Performs case management functions.

    In addition to general duties above for Licensed Professional Counselor -

    • Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: Quality Improvement meeting, professional staff meetings, Commander's staff meetings, Flight meetings, safety huddles and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by the Flight Commander or their designated representative.
    • Maintain accurate and current notes in both the Mental Health records and inpatient medical records of all patients seen, as appropriate, and produces reports of evaluation and/or treatment, as required.
    • Responsible for planning, designing, monitoring, coordinating, analyzing and producing scientific content for social and behavioral studies and regulatory documents needed to support research studies
    • Participates in military specific training (e.g., training to perform Command Directed Evaluations, medical evaluation boards, temporary disability retirement list (TDRL) evaluations, security clearances, Military Training Instructor clearances, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress).
    • Performs computer operations and be proficient in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and electronic medical records.
    • Produces a monthly average of patient visits and RVUs consistent with department norms.
    • Advises on problems related to mental health and prevention of mental disorders.
    • Responsible for and applies psychological procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, and providing evidenced-based therapies (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, etc.), in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological disorders.
    • Individual, family and group psychotherapy, and couples therapy, alcohol and drug treatment evaluations.
    • Consults with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders and school districts, as required.
    • Any additional healthcare-related duties as required by DAFIs, applicable DHAPIs, DoDIs, and MDGIs
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

    • Degree/Education: Master’s or higher-level degree from a mental health counseling program of education and training accredited for Mental Health Counseling OR Clinical Mental Health Counseling by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

    • Must provide a certificate of completion of training for and ability to deliver
      an Evidence Based Treatment modality to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
      Approved Evidence Based Treatment modalities include Written Exposure Therapy,
      Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Eye Movement
      Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. National Clinical Mental Health Counselor
      Examination (NCMHCE)

    • Maintains BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association®.

    • Board Certification: The HCW shall have national and/or state (required) approved and current board certification or board eligible certification in the specialty area in which they provide clinical services.

    • Licensure: Possess and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted state license to independently practice mental health counseling, which includes diagnosis and treatment.
