    As an Individual Licensed Therapist specializing in addiction medicine, you will provide one-on-one therapeutic support to individuals facing substance use challenges. Your role will involve developing personalized treatment plans, conducting regular therapy sessions, and fostering a safe space for patients to explore their emotions and behaviors. You will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to monitor progress and adapt interventions as needed. Strong clinical skills, empathy, and a deep understanding of addiction recovery principles are essential for success in this role.

    Job Duties

    Conduct initial psychosocial assessments to evaluate patients’ mental health status, substance use history, and treatment needs

    Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments, patient goals, and recovery objectives

    Facilitate one-on-one therapy sessions using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, or trauma-informed care

    Create a safe, supportive therapeutic environment where patients can explore emotions, behaviors, and the underlying causes of substance use

    Monitor patient progress throughout treatment, documenting clinical observations and updating treatment plans accordingly

    Collaborate with medical staff, case managers, peer supporters, and other clinicians to coordinate care and ensure a multidisciplinary approach

    Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed, including participation in safety planning

    Educate patients about addiction, mental health, coping strategies, relapse prevention, and healthy lifestyle changes

    Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with OhioMHAS standards and facility protocols

    Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews to share insights and contribute to overall care planning

    Support discharge and aftercare planning by identifying ongoing therapy or support needs and facilitating referrals to community resources

    Uphold ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional boundaries while maintaining a patient-centered therapeutic relationship

    Stay current on addiction recovery best practices, clinical interventions, and licensing requirements through continuing education and training

    License Requirements/Qualifications:

    CDCA (minimum requirement for Ohio)

    Masters or bachelor’s level degree from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board

    2+ years experience in a detox or residential addiction treatment setting

    Well-versed in a variety of evidence-based modalities (e.g. DBT, CBT, MI).

    Exceptional interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    Proficiency with EMRs, LOCUS, ASAM, and Joint Commission.

    Level 2 Background Check and Drug Test required

    Ability to work under stressful conditions and be flexible

    Knowledge of Joint Commission, OhioMHAS, and HIPAA standards

    Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms

    Knowledge of state and federal statutes regarding patient confidentiality laws

    Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace policies and procedures

    Emotional intelligence to be able to de-escalate situations

    Experience and passion working with clients struggling with substance abuse or mental health disorders

    Communication and teamwork skills

    Documenting all necessary information in EMR/EHR platform

    Collaborating with the treatment team to ensure quality client care

    Performing other duties as necessary

    Successful completion of background screening, fingerprints, and required in-service courses (i.e., CPR, Security Awareness, HIPAA, OSHA, AIDS/HIV, COVID-19, Domestic Violence, Medical Errors, Baker Act, Co-Occurring disorders, etc.)

    Must be tech-savvy and proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.)
