Licensed Veterinary Technician - Cardiology
Job Description
We are thrilled to announce that we are now looking for a dedicated LVT to work with our newest team addition- a Veterinary Cardiology Specialist! This position is part-time for two days a week. Full-time work can be considered if the candidate is interested in also working hours on the ER team.
The Veterinary Cardiology Technician works under the direction of the Veterinary Cardiologist to assist in diagnosing and treating heart and circulatory conditions in animal patients. This role combines advanced technical skills with compassionate animal care, focusing on cardiovascular health, diagnostic imaging, and patient monitoring.
_ Key Responsibilities_
* Obtain thorough patient histories focusing on cardiovascular signs and symptoms.
* Perform physical assessments, including monitoring heart rate, pulse quality, respiration, and blood pressure.
* Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedural patient care and monitoring.
* Assist in performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as ECGs, echocardiograms, radiographs, and blood pressure measurements.
* Operate and maintain specialized equipment like electrocardiograph machines, Doppler ultrasound, and Holter monitors.
* Collect and handle blood and other samples for laboratory analysis.
* Administer prescribed cardiac medications, including monitoring patient reaction and documenting response.
* Assist veterinary cardiologists during catheterizations, pacemaker placements, and other advanced cardiac procedures.
* Provide anesthesia support during cardiac evaluations and interventional procedures.
* Communicate test results, treatment plans, and home care instructions to clients under the veterinarian’s direction.
* Educate pet owners on medication administration, diet, exercise recommendations, and ongoing monitoring of heart health.
* Maintain detailed medical records and ensure accuracy of diagnostic data and treatment notes.
* Manage cardiac medication and equipment inventory, ensuring proper function and calibration of diagnostic tools.

Additional Information
This is a part-time position. If candidates are interested in working on the ER team as well, then full-time applicants may be considered
_ Pay Range:_ $20 - $25/hr depending on level of experience.
