Position Overview:
The Ketamine Technician is responsible for providing specialized, compassionate care to patients undergoing ketamine infusions or treatments for mental health conditions such as depression and PTSD, as well as chronic pain. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician, the LVN administers treatments, closely monitors vital signs during sessions, and ensures patient safety throughout the entire process.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and administer Ketamine/ Spravato treatments to patients, continuously monitoring vitals (blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate) throughout the infusion process
Observe and assess patients until they safely return to baseline cognitive and physical functioning
May occasionally assist with infusion treatments in other areas as needed
Deliver patient education and emotional support while creating a calming and therapeutic environment
Responsible for administrative duties including documenting treatment, scheduling, insurance verification and patient check-in and check-out
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
Provide compassionate patient care, building trust and rapport, especially with patients experiencing mental health challenges like depression and anxiety
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong IV Skills - comfortable starting IVs independently
Direct patient care experience and working with patients who are suffering from anxiety and depression is preferred
Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health setting
Experience working in a healthcare setting/medical office environment preferred
Ability to interact with potential patients, clinic staff, physicians, and departments in a professional manner
Ability to multi-task with a high degree of attention to detail and bring tasks to completion
Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor and interface well with patients in a mental health setting
Must respect and adhere to office guidelines and use good judgment regarding patient confidentiality
Excellent written, verbal, and follow-up skills required
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team
Punctual, reliable, and flexible
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, strong computer and data entry skills
Education and Experience:
LVN Certificate or Diploma
High School Diploma required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
