    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

    This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management for the technical and medical functions, and physician training and development functions of the organization, in support of the operational goals of Life Connection of Ohio (LCO). This position interfaces with LCO and hospital partner leadership, front-line team members, and the Governing Board of Directors. This position executes organizational development strategy and drives change initiatives across the organization in order to optimize our organizational potential. As a member of the leadership team this position actively fosters an organizational culture that is based on collaboration, support and constructive feedback.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Duty or Function

    1. Responsible for the oversight of the clinical management of potential donors to optimize organ function for transplantation, in conjunction with the AOC.
    2. Implements the OPO’s protocols for donor evaluation and management and organ recovery and placement.
    3. Supervise medical and technical aspects of services provided by Life Connection of Ohio. 4 Serve as medical resource for Life Connection both internally and for external partners.
    4. Collaborates with Associate Medical Director(s) to develop a quarterly meeting that drives donation culture within their respective hospital systems.
    5. Provides 24/7 phone availability for organ clinical staff in agreed upon call rotation with Associate Medical Director(s).
    6. Assists as needed with in-service education directed toward physicians and other health care personnel to stimulate interest and understanding of the donation process.
    7. Serves as a liaison for Life Connection to area physicians and hospital administration.
    8. Provides guidance for the build out, and operational practices, for an organ recovery center.
    9. Participates in case reviews and operational meetings relevant to appropriate clinical activity.
    10. Identifies, plans, devises and oversees organ donor management research opportunities.
    11. Develops and maintains physician relationships with key transplant centers.
    12. Evaluates publication/abstract submission/presentation opportunities
    13. Provides clinical education for organ clinical staff and hospital partners.
    14. Analyzes organizational data and trends, and initiates process development and improvement actions to ensure LCO’s commitment to continuous quality improvement.
    15. Actively engages in strategic thinking around Merger & Acquisition opportunities and company culture.
    16. Reviews the surgical standards and technical quality of organ recovery surgeons annually.
    17. Participates in the Medical Advisory Board, Advisory Board, and Governing Board meetings.
    18. Provides input as need for the Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Plan and the Exposure Control Plan.
    19. Provides updates to leadership and staff on new healthcare regulations.
    20. Develop and manage internal departmental budget.
    21. Seeks ways to improve organization’s clinical services.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    Education: Board certified Medical Degree. Licensed within at least one state Life Connection of Ohio conducts business. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Health Administration (MH) degree preferred.

    Experience:

    Minimum of five years’ experience working in critical care

    Prefer 5-10 years’ experience working in the field or organ donation or transplantation.

    Certifications/Licenses: Board Certified Medical Degree

    Skills and Abilities:

    Knowledge of managing mechanically ventilated medical and surgical critical care patients.

    Knowledge of technological resources including computer systems and related software.

    Additional skills and abilities include leadership skills, analytic skills, attention to detail, good communication skills and interpersonal skills.

    Supervision:

    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.

    Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
