    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:Clinical Services Responder responds to all referred potential donors for organ donation. Moreover, Clinical Service Responder directs logistical support of potential organ donors and provides information to healthcare professionals in donor hospitals, in addition to maintaining the integrity of the donation process when actively engaged in a potential organ donor referral.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Duty or Function1. Maintains the highest standards of professional conduct and interpersonal relationship development, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment. 2. Identifies potential donor clinical triggers to encourage timely referrals of potential donors from hospitals.3. Completes referral evaluations for the purpose of determining organ donation suitability based on LCO, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), OPTN/UNOS, Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and recommendations.4. Completes hospital medical record review, including history of present illness and past medical history, the presence of past or present malignancies, and all surgical interventions/treatments.5. Demonstrates an understanding of the legal and hospital requirements for death declaration and organ donation.6. Identifies organ- specific behavioral risk factors in accordance with LCO and regulatory guidelines.7. Reviews and documents required information within the donor record, including labs, diagnostics, and procedural records.8. Assesses family dynamics, availability of hospital support system, and family needs (e.g., cultural, religious, emotional, informational).9. Identifies the patient’s legal next-of-kin in accordance with state and Uniform Anatomical Gift Act (UAGA) statutes.10. Understands and complies with procedural aspects and requirements of blood, culture and typing specimen collection and labeling.11. Complies with LCO and OPTN/UNOS policies regarding documentation, maintenance, and confidentiality of records.12. Utilizes resources with discretion and employs professional laterality, when possible (i.e., utilization of hospital profiles, engagement with donor family and hospital staff, etc.).13. Maintains current knowledge of industry standards and changes in industry regulations and communicates the changes with staff and leadership.14. Fulfills additional individual and departmental directives, obligations, and responsibilities, as designated.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    Education: High school diploma or GED required with healthcare experience. Preferred Associate degree in nursing, respiratory care, paramedic medicine, or related biological related sciences (LPN, STNA, Paramedic, EMT, MA).

    Experience: 1-2 years hospital experience.Licenses/certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS preferred
